ASSCAT ROTC Unit Achieves Highest RAATI Rating Yet – 94.44% in 2025

The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) unit of the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) achieved its highest score yet during the 2025 Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI), earning an impressive 94.44% rating on May 9.

Led by RAATI Chairman COL. REYNOLD ROMEL A. GOCE GSC (INF) PA, the inspection covered Company Drill and Inspection of Ranks, Silent Drill, Small Unit Tactics, Knot Tying, M16 rifle assembly and disassembly, map reading, and theoretical examinations in military science and basic life support (BLS). The ASSCAT ROTC unit has shown remarkable growth over the years, improving from 86.86% in 2023 to 90.85% in 2024, and now to 94.44% in 2025.

College President Dr. Joy Capistrano delivered an inspirational message and witnessed the inspection and exhibitions, joined by vice presidents, Army reservists, faculty, and staff. She praised the cadets’ discipline and commitment to service.

Following RAATI, cadets who complete the ROTC program are automatically enlisted in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Reserve Force under the Ready Reserve. However, they do not become active soldiers, nor are they deployed to combat by default. Reservists remain civilians unless formally mobilized during a declared emergency or national crisis, and many continue to serve through civic action, disaster response, or voluntary further training.

The ROTC program at ASSCAT meaningfully contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by developing disciplined, service-oriented students; SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting responsible citizenship and national preparedness; and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through physical fitness, mental resilience, and emergency response training.
