ASSCAT celebrates Independence Day; attends Grand Opening of Naliyagan Festival

The ASSCAT Administrative Council Members, headed by our College President, Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, attended the celebration of the 126th Independence Day and the Grand Opening Ceremony of the 32nd Naliyagan Festival on June 12, 2025, at Naliyagan Ground, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The ASSCAT Community expresses its heartfelt appreciation to Team Eddiebong, led by Cong. Eddiebong G. Plaza and the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, headed by Gov. Santi B. Cane, Jr., for successful hosting this historic celebration.

The day’s festivities commenced with a solemn flag-raising ceremomy, followed by a grand parade. The festival highlighted the rich AgSurnon culture, featuring numerous stalls which provide the attendees with an immersive experience of AgSurnon traditions and craftmanship.

Another highlight of the grand opening ceremony was a tribal parade featuring four indigenous tribes- Manobo, Banwaon, Talaandig, and Higaonon. This display of cultural heritage was a testament to the province’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its indigenous roots.

The Naliyagan Festival is a province-wide, week long celebration showcasing the socio-cultural and artistic heritage of the indigenous tribes of Agusan del Sur which will continue until June 17.

As we continue to honor our past and embrace our diverse heritage, let us look forward to a week filled with unity, appreciation, and joy.

Happy Naliyagan Festival!

Happy Independence Day!
