Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) welcomed officials from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Agusan del Sur on April 30, 2025, for a courtesy visit that signaled a stronger push for workforce development aligned with the Enterprise-Based Education and Training (EBET) Framework Act, or Republic Act No. 12063.
The visit, led by TESDA Provincial Director Dr. Remegias G. Timonio, centered on strengthening collaboration between TESDA and ASSCAT through initiatives such as Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the rollout of the EBET law, and the proposed registration of a diploma program in agriculture-related fields.
ASSCAT President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, along with Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance Dr. Carmelo S. Llanto and college deans, welcomed the TESDA delegation. Faculty members, TESDA coordinators, and staff were also present to explore partnership opportunities.
The initiative directly contributes to the achievement of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through inclusive and industry-responsive learning pathways, Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by improving employability through enterprise-based training, and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering multisectoral collaboration.
“This engagement is a step forward in ensuring our programs remain relevant and responsive to local and global workforce needs,” said Dr. Capistrano. “It reflects our commitment to sustainable development through education-industry synergy.”
TESDA’s continued drive to empower the Filipino workforce under the banner of “Sa TESDA, Kayang-Kaya!” affirms the potential of strong institutional partnerships in shaping a future-ready, highly skilled labor force.
The courtesy visit marks the beginning of deeper cooperation between TESDA and ASSCAT, with both institutions working toward inclusive, skills-driven growth for Agusan del Sur and beyond.
