ASSCAT Advances 5S Quality Workplace Training

The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) has taken a proactive step in enhancing workplace efficiency by organizing a comprehensive training course on the 5S Quality Workplace methodology from September 24 to 26, 2024.

 

Organized by the ASSCAT Quality Management Center, under the leadership of QMS Director Dr. Sheila G. Reyes, and with the support of top management led by College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, this initiative marks ASSCAT’s leadership in promoting 5S principles among State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Caraga Region, conducted in collaboration with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP). The training covered the essential 5S principles—𝘚𝘌𝘐𝘙𝘐 (𝘚𝘖𝘙𝘛), 𝘚𝘌𝘐𝘛𝘖𝘕 (𝘚𝘠𝘚𝘛𝘌𝘔𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘡𝘌), 𝘚𝘌𝘐𝘚𝘖 (𝘚𝘞𝘌𝘌𝘗), 𝘚𝘌𝘐𝘒𝘌𝘛𝘚𝘜 (𝘚𝘈𝘕𝘐𝘛𝘐𝘡𝘌/𝘚𝘛𝘈𝘕𝘋𝘈𝘙𝘋𝘐𝘡𝘌), 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘏𝘐𝘛𝘚𝘜𝘒𝘌 (𝘚𝘌𝘓𝘍-𝘋𝘐𝘚𝘊𝘐𝘗𝘓𝘐𝘕𝘌)—to enhance workplace organization and efficiency among faculty and staff.

 

Guided by DAP resource experts Ms. Melani G. Mercader, Project Manager for Capability Building Intervention on QMS, and Ms. Jelriz Joi C. Lanip, Project Assistant III, the training offered a balance of theoretical insights and practical applications. The highlight was the Walk Around Activity on the third day, where participants assessed practices across various offices to identify strengths and areas for improvement. This hands-on experience reinforced the significance of 5S in fostering a productive and safe work environment.
