Planting Knowledge, Cultivating Change: ASSCAT Hosts Sustainable Mulberry Farming Training

Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) recently held a training on Sustainable Mulberry Farming, gathering participants from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), the Municipal Agriculture Office, and the Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office.

The training, accredited with 10 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, was part of ASSCAT’s initiatives as a PRC-recognized CPD provider. It focused on practical, science-based approaches to sustainable farming—balancing productivity with environmental responsibility.

The sessions were led by Dr. Rodrigo L. Bongolan, Jr., Dr. Sarah M. Ravelo, Mr. David V. Marapao, and Mr. Ronald Granada, who shared their expertise on sustainable crop production and the role of mulberry in climate-resilient agricultural systems.

This initiative contributes to key Sustainable Development Goals—promoting sustainable food systems (SDG 2: Zero Hunger), responsible use of natural resources (SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production), and climate-smart agriculture (SDG 13: Climate Action).

Through efforts like this, ASSCAT strengthens its role in advancing sustainable practices, helping agricultural workers and institutions adapt to changing conditions and support long-term food security.
